Aware came to Clickworks to rebrand a programme they run for transition year students whose aim is to educate about depression. That meant a new name, a new look, presentation slides for an 80 minute class, a workbook that the students get to keep and a teachers leaflet to advertise the project.
We re named the programme Think. Feel. Act. This came from a device used in the programme called ‘The Coping Triangle’. The words, ‘Thoughts’, ‘Feelings’ and ‘Actions’ can be found, one in each corner, on ‘The Coping Triangle’. How these three things interact with each other and affect you is the keystone to the whole programme and we thought it was appropriate that the name be drawn from them.
For the style, I chose to use a ‘doodle’ concept. It is very important that the students can relate to the programme. Doodles often signify what is going on in the back of your mind and that is the purpose they serve in this project. Each doodle is always coupled with an image of a young adult so that there is always a ‘real’ person to relate to. The doodle compilation I created has both positive (music notes, sun, mouths speaking, etc) and negative (rain clouds, exclamation points, etc) elements but only the positive are ever coloured in, to highlight the positive. The programme has just gone live and Aware are getting great feedback from the schools they have targeted.
